Eight local students have qualified to participate in the highly selective Duke University Talent Identification Program 7th Grade Talent Search. These students were selected based on outstanding performance on a nationally-normed achievement test. They are now eligible to take the SAT or ACT college entrance tests and may receive recognition on the state and national levels.
Seventh-grade students from Carlisle County High School include: Weaver Daughenbaugh, Callie Deweese, Alec Dowdy, Makena Edging, Cassie Handley, Abagail Lanier, Abigail Lyell, and Kimberly Thomas. These students had exceptional scores on the spring 2011 Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) or the Iowa Test of Basic Skills in the areas of reading and/or mathematics.
