CCMS Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Challenge

For incoming CCMS 6th - 8th graders

Don’t waste your summer staring at a TV screen or bored out of your mind! Pick up a book instead. Research shows that children who don't read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. Keep your brain on track by participating in the CCMS Summer Reading Challenge. The list below includes classic literature and new favorites, along with a place for you to choose some of your own. For each book read this summer, you will receive $25 Comet Cash upon your return to school. Your parent/guardian must sign to receive credit. Please be honest – you may be asked questions about it!

The CCMS library will be open on the following dates:  June 13 and July 10 from 4:00-6:00. You could also visit the Ballard/Carlisle, Graves or McCracken County public libraries. Titles with an asterisk are also available free online.
