Return to School Procedures

Return to School Procedures

In previous school years there have been instances where you could send your child back to school after being sick with a parent note being the only requirement for them to be readmitted. With the current operating procedures that we are faced with we are going to need to follow new guidelines when returning from illness. We have posted the Decision Tree that we are using for guidance on both our website and Facebook page. That document states that if your student has had any symptoms of COVID-19 then we have to have either documentation of a negative test or an alternate diagnosis for them to return to in person classes. In order to make sure this is followed we are going to need for you to present that documentation to the school prior to your student entering the classroom.  Use the bullet points below to...

2020-2021 Instructional Update - 7/27/20

 Instruction Options for 2020-2021

CCES Registration

Carlisle County Elementary School still plans to have it’s registration afternoons  Monday July 27th and Tuesday July 28th.  Our “One-Call” now system is still currently not working, so please help us spread the word about these afternoons.  Both days the times will be from 1:00-7:00, we ask that Last names beginning with letters A-M attend on Monday and Last names beginning with the letters N-Z attend on Tuesday.  If you are registering a new student you may attend either night.  All students must be registered one of these two nights to be enrolled in Carlisle County Schools for the 19-20 school year.  For the registration night Parents and Students are asked to wear masks, if you forget to bring a mask we will have disposable ones available at the door.  This night will serve as an opportunity to register your child, meet with your child’s teacher and understand more about how their year will go.   We are in some different times right now and understand that you may have many questions concerning the upcoming school year.  As always we appreciate your patience and support and are excited to see the Comets for the 20-21 School year.

Thank you

2020-2021 Back to School Update - 7/14/20

Good morning! We wanted to provide you with a few updates. First, we want to let you all know that our One Call system is down so please try to help spread the word about these updates with anyone that you think has an interest. We appreciate your help with that. Secondly, thank you all for your patience. We have been trying to consult with other districts and absorb all the guidance that we receive from the Kentucky Department of Education and local health officials in order to make good decisions regarding the health of not only our school community, but the community as a whole. After all things have been considered our board determined last night that we would push our start date back to August 24, 2020. This start date offers a couple of advantages to our district. First, it allows us to align more closely with Mayfield Independent which is important because we send students to their district for instruction at the Mayfield Area Technical Center. Next, this start date allows us to take advantage of a law that provides for what is referred to as a Variable Student Instructional Calendar as long as start on or after August 24, 2020. This law provides for us to not have to meet the 170 day requirement of a traditional calendar, but still requires us to meet the 1062 hour component of the traditional calendar. We can restructure our schedule to meet those hours with minimal impact to our normal hours of operation on a daily basis. You are still afforded the same options with regard to how you determine your student(s) with receive instruction this year. Finally, this start date gives our staff more time to prepare for having students both in class and in the home setting. We have not taken away the options of either attending in person or staying home in a "NTI" type setting. As always, we look forward to working with you and your children. Please don't hesitate to contact the board office with any questions or concerns.

CCES SBDM Minority Parent Member Nominations

Hopefully things are going well for you and your family.  For the 20-21 school year, we are in need of a Minority Parent Member of the School Based Decision Making Council.  The duties included with serving would be attending meetings during the school year that could happen as often as Monthly and to attend a one day training during the month of July.  This is a totally voluntary committee that serves without pay and plays a vital role in the decision making processes at the Elementary School.  To be nominated for this position  you would need to regularly identify yourself as a Minority on general information forms and you cannot be directly related to any faculty member at Carlisle County Elementary School.   To be nominated for this position please send your contact information, by July 1st, 2020 in an email to:

Thank you all for your support and serving the kids of Carlisle County Schools

NTI Information - 4/21/20

Good Morning. I wanted to provide you with an update regarding the remainder of the school year. As most of you have heard, Governor Beshear has asked that we not resume in person classes this school year. We have also been provided with some time allowance for our NTI days that will allow us to finish our required instructional time a little earlier than expected. Our last day for students for the 19-20 school year will be Friday May 8. We will be dropping off the last packet, which will contain 1 week of work, on Friday May 1 via bus routes or in school pick up as we have done in the past weeks. We will continue our lunch locations through Friday May 15 except for on May 1 when we will deliver lunches with packets via bus or in person pick up in the cafeteria. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation during this difficult time. We are here to provide assistance if we can help in any way.

NTI Information - 4/19/20

In order to continue to promote social distancing, we will have a change in our food service delivery for this week and going forward. Starting Monday, we will be delivering meals to the same locations but only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each of those days, two meals (breakfasts and lunches), may be picked up each day. A one call will be made announcing this as well. Thank you and please call the board office if you have any questions.

NTI Information - 4/3/20

Good Morning! We hope everyone is doing great! We have a few updates this morning. First, as most of you have probably seen on the news, Governor Beshear has asked that we extend our current NTI situation through May 1. We will be continuing with new packets going home on Tuesday April 14 and those packets will contain 3 weeks of work. We will be distributing via bus(we will do food this way on Tuesday as well since we will already be coming around to homes) as we have the past two times and we will collect completed work at that time as well. Just drop your completed work back into the envelope and hand to us at that time. You also have the option to come to the buildings between 10-5 on Tuesday the 14th to pick up or turn in work. After Tuesday we will be available for pick up or drop off in the buildings from 10-1 each weekday. Remember, we are on Spring Break next week so there will be no food services or instructional services taking place. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that has worked to provide meals at this time. Our cafeteria staff has been exceptional both in work production and attitude and I want them to know we appreciate them. If you get the opportunity to send one of them a message, you should do it! Enjoy your Spring Break! Stay safe, follow social distancing orders and find time to do things that you enjoy!
